Isn't the Roxy a great way to watch a movie? I went to see 'The best exotic Marigold Hotel' this afternoon at the Lighthouse in Petone (also a great way to watch a movie) and the movie didn't disappoint. As you say, a stellar cast who could become cliches as we see them so often, but they pulled it off, they were terrific. And golly, I laughed out loud a lot (by myself at the theatre). I haven't been to India, but I guess it has to be one of those places beckoning.Maggie Rainey-Smithhttp://www.maggieraineysmith.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5331943136127375888.post-67391195292626408242012-04-01T01:20:14.000-07:002012-04-01T01:20:14.000-07:00Oh whoops, that's enjoying, with an 'i'...Oh whoops, that's enjoying, with an 'i' after 'y'.Maggie Rainey-Smithhttp://www.maggieraineysmith.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5331943136127375888.post-83897426315506980082012-04-01T13:13:35.000-07:002012-04-01T13:13:35.000-07:00Hi Maggie, glad you enjoyed the movie too. Yes, the Lighthouse is another good venue and apparently they are opening up another similar movie theatre in the inner city - somewhere around Cuba St. We've been to India three times, but I imagine you could go back year after year and keep discovering new things. Another thing I loved about it - apart from the colour, the history, the scenery - was the way that English has developed there into such a musical language with its own distinctive phrases and intonation. We used to buy the English language newspapers and I remember in particular that if there was a road accident involving a bus, it often read that "the bus driver was absconding" - not a word that you often come across elsewhere!adminhttp://www.philippawerry.co.nznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5331943136127375888.post-32478017868083669332012-04-01T13:14:18.000-07:002012-04-01T13:14:18.000-07:00I'll come and visit your blog soon to see what...I'll come and visit your blog soon to see what kinds of things you have been enjoying lately!adminhttp://www.philippawerry.co.nznoreply@blogger.com
